Cecil "John Blazz" Halstead was born in Kingston, Jamaica, January 12, 1971.

He spends most of his time as a youth in Spanish Town where he meets the artists who born his passion for music, reggae, its messages and values it conveys.

The years passed and Cecil Halstead begins as a singer, taking the name of John Blazz before becoming a sound engineer, working for renowned Lutan Fyah & Warrior King, Mikey General, G, Maffiah, Chaplain Rickey, Teflon Milton Blake and talented Jodi-Ann Pantry of the famous TV show "Rising Stars" to name a few.

John Blazz created his own label "Kick Off" bringing together many artists he used to receive.

"Kick Off" allows the production of many songs that were and still are today regularly scheduled on local radio stations as well as international.

He is also the producer of the "Peace Song for Spanish Town - We Need Love", performed mainly by artists of Spanish Town.

This song once again acclaimed, was also broadcast many times on the radio in particular the program "Easy Skankin Show" hosted by Sister Elise Kelly on Irie Fm.

In 2002, he participated and finished in the top 10 of the annual competition organized by the JCDC (Jamaica Cultural Development Commission).

Strength of these experiments, John Blazz continues to compose and write his own songs while continuing activities in the label "Kick Off" producing artists from Spanish Town.

It also participates in the same year at Jamaica National Festival and initiate on a tour across Jamaica, distilling his own vibrations.

The following year John Blazz also participates regularly at "Early Buss Out" next to artists such as Lutan Fyah, Chuck Fenda, among others.

In 2012, he produced with his label "Kick Off" his first album by partnering with the graphic artist Tidouz (www.tidouz.com). This album consisting largely of riddims taken from DIS DAT N Production, however, contains some beautiful examples of collaborations with solicitating "Mercy Please" composed by Filo muzik production and the "Life Road" produced by 149 Records.

So he finally released "They Don’t Care" in March 2012 (released on legal download platforms ) on which there are his brothers in arms: Lutan Fyah on "Dem Confuse", Tony D "One Blood" and Ico Flames on "Perfect Lady".

Working tirelessly, John Blazz multiplies connections surrounding himself with several producers, songwriters, and labels, recording in 2011, 2012 and early 2013, many dubplates and no less than nine original songs including: "Give Praise" on Beat Off Riddim produced by Mr. Forestal (of 149 Records), "Changing Time" on Basco Riddim by One Heart Production, "Shake it" on the Status Riddim produced by Razor Blade Rec, "Waiting" on Moving Riddim produced by the famous Stephen McGregor and Di Genius Records, "Now U Gone", "Prove Her Love" produced this time by his own label "Kick Off", "Lonely" produced by the famous French Irie Ites, "Good Friend" produced by Iyah Vybz Muzik, "Love Flag" once again DIS N DAT Production, "So True" on the Threshold Riddim produced by Dynasty Records.

Anxious to always refine and sharpen his texts as his musical universe, he works since the release of his first album to deliver his message and show the extent of his vocal capacity, constantly inspired by his mentor Dennis Brown, proving his mastery on singing voice, harmonies as well as songs toaster, or raggamuffin, which allows him to speak on both New Roots, Ragga, Dancehall versions, as Roots oldies versions, or even hip hop and RnB, among others.

When writing his first album, he met members of 149 Records, for whom he wrote the song "Life Road" on the Speaker Riddim coming out late 2011.

Advanced new professional John Blazz, which allows him to announce at this time the coming of his album "They Don’t Care" and the desire to work more conscientiously, emphasizing once again the artistic and musical new projects.

Today, John Blazz working on his new studio album in collaboration with French producer BASSY PROD, member of the label 149 Records label now known for its many One Riddim Albums released (Datta Riddim, See Dem Grow Riddim, Brighter Day Riddim, Speaker Riddim, the latter already composed by "Bassy" and interpreted by the Babyclone Band who created the label).

Cecil “John Blazz” Halstead est né à Kingston en Jamaïque le 12 Janvier 1971.

Il passe dans sa jeunesse le plus claire de son temps à Spanish Town où il côtoie les artistes qui font naitre sa passion de la musique, du reggae, ses messages et les valeurs qu’il véhicule.

Les années passent et Cecil Halstead commence ainsi en tant que chanteur, prenant le surnom de John Blazz, avant de devenir ingénieur du son en opérant pour les renommés Lutan Fyah & Warrior King, Mikey General, G, Maffiah, Rickey Chaplain, Teflon, Milton Blake et la talentueuse Jodi-Ann Pantry de la célèbre émission télévisée “Rising Stars” pour ne nommer qu’eux.

John Blazz crée alors son propre label “Kick Off” regroupant ainsi bon nombre d’artistes qu’il avait l’habitude de recevoir.

“Kick Off” permet la production de nombreuses chansons qui ont été et sont aujourd’hui toujours programmées régulièrement sur les radios locales aussi bien qu’internationales.

Il est également le producteur de la "Peace Song for Spanish Town - We Need Love", interprétée principalement par des artistes de Spanish Town.

Cette chanson, plébiscitée une fois de plus, a elle aussi été diffusée de nombreuses fois à la radio en particulier dans l’émission "Skankin Easy Show” animée par la Sister Elise Kelly sur Irie Fm.

En 2002, il participe et termine dans les 10 premiers du concours annuel organisé par la JCDC (Jamaica Cultural Development Commission).

Fort de ces expériences, John Blazz continue à composer et écrire ses propres chansons, tout en continuant ses activités au sein du label “Kick Off” en produisant les artistes de Spanish Town.

Il participe d’ailleurs cette même année au Jamaïcain National Festival et entreprend une tournée à travers la Jamaïque, distillant ses propres vibrations.

Les années suivantes John Blazz participe également très régulièrement au “Early Buss Out” au coté d’artistes tels que Lutan Fyah, Chuck Fenda entre autre.

En 2012, il produit avec son label “Kick Off” son 1er album en s’associant au graphiste Tidouz (www.tidouz.com). Cette album composée en majeure partie de riddims de DIS N DAT Production contient cependant quelques exemples de belles collaborations avec nottament “Mercy Please” composé par Filo muzik production et “Life Road” produit par le 149 Records.

Travaillant sans relâche depuis 2002, John Blazz multiplie les connections en s’entourant de plusieurs producteurs, compositeurs, et labels, enregistrant ainsi courant 2011, 2012 et début 2013, de nombreuses dubplates et pas moins de 9 chansons originales telles que : “Give Praise” sur le Beat Off Riddim produit par M. Soucieux de toujours affiner et affuter ses textes comme son univers musical, il travail depuis la sortie de son premier album à délivrer son message et montrer l’étendue de ses capacités vocale, sans cesse inspiré de son mentor Dennis Brown, prouvant ainsi sa maitrise des voix chantées, des harmonies autant que des chants toaster, du raggamuffin, ce qui lui permet de s’exprimer sur des versions aussi bien New Roots, Ragga, Dancehall, que des versions oldies Roots, ou bien encore du hip hop et du RnB entre autre.

Lors de l’écriture de son premier album, il fait la rencontre des membres du 149 Records pour qui il écrit le titre “Life Road” sur le Speaker Riddim qui sortira fin 2011.

Une nouvelle avancée professionnel pour John Blazz, qui lui permet d’annoncer à cette époque la venue de son album “They Don’t Care” et la volonté de travailler de manière plus consciencieuse, insistant une nouvelle fois sur la qualité artistique et musicale de ses nouveaux projets.

Aujourd’hui, John Blazz travaille sur son nouvel album studio en collaboration avec le producteur français BASSY PROD, membre du label 149 Records, label dorénavant connu pour ses nombreuses sorties de One Riddim albums (Datta Riddim, See Dem Grow Riddim, Brighter Day Riddim, Speaker Riddim, ce dernier déjà composé par “Bassy” et interprété par le Babyclone Band qui a créé le label).
